In 2005 two gems were released to the market, the 1991 and 1981. This is the older sister version of the two bottles. Kioke Shikomi translates to "matured in wooden tubs", the 1981 was also a bamboo charcoal filter whisky. It’s a vatting of Yamazaki and Hakushu single malts, and it has been bottled at Yamanishi, so the blend would most probably be a high percentage of Hakushu. Also the true flavours of Hakushu are discovered when drinking this beautiful dram, the complexity of flavours and the smoky characteristics suggest Hakushu is the main player.
